A Function for Ascorbic Acid in the Metabolism of an Insect

Abstract

Homogenates of Blattella conjuncta oxidize L-tyrosine. The reaction is diminished by dialysis, but may be reactivated with L-ascorbic acid. Glutathione, pyridoxal phosphate, and folic acid also activate the system.
