Abstract

Samples of airborne and ground-deposited debris produced by an experiment in nuclear excavation were analyzed to determine the fate of various radioactive nuclides. A few tenths percent of the nonvolatile species and 10 to 20 percent of the volatile species escaped beyond the immediate vicinity of the crater.
