Mechanism for Intercalation of Kaolinite by Alkali Acetates

Abstract

The relative strengths of the hydrogen bonds in kaolinite-alkali salt-water systems control kaolinite-salt interactions. A new technique for intercalation results in formation of a kaolinite-salt complex free of excess salt.
