Histones in the Wild-Type and the Anucleolate Mutant of Xenopus laevis

A comparison of anucleolate mutant and wild-type tadpoles of Xenopus laevis reveals striking differences in histones. In the mutant, synthesis of histone fractions I and IIb is virtually absent and IIa is reduced, while fractions III and IV are significantly increased.
