Summary

Beijing—The Chinese Academy of Sciences has proposed several new big-science facilities, including a 2.5-GeV synchrotron radiation facility and a 4-meter telescope with advanced optics. Proponents of each project are now jockeying for support among scientists and public officials at all levels of government.
