Summary

In recent years, expectations about what can be learned from testing students have become increasingly unrealistic. This paper discusses a set of myths that surround standardized testing. It concludes that test score comparisons are highly misleading indicators of the quality of education and are irrelevant to decisions about the wisdom of any particular school reform.
