Summary

Boston—Researchers looking to bring futuristic materials a step closer to reality gathered at the Materials Research Society meeting in Boston from 27 November to 1 December. One intriguing presentation focused on efforts to simplify computer-chip manufacture with a “rubber stamp” technique to press intricate circuits right onto a substrate; another talk reported that heating a thin film in alternating strips during manufacture improves its electrical conductivity dramatically.
