Galactic Building Blocks Found?

Although astronomers have long suspected that galaxies form from the bottom up, with small structures merging into larger ones, they have not previously detected the subgalactic clumps of gas and newborn stars that serve as the building blocks. Now, perhaps, they have, although not everyone is as yet convinced.
