Summary

Where has Jupiter's water gone? Planetary scientists are puzzling over that problem, thanks to data from the Galileo space probe, reported on (page 846). The latest results clear up some initial confusion over the data, but suggest that Jupiter has only 10% of its predicted water. Theorists are left pondering the implications for how the giant planet formed.
