Support for Science Stays Strong

Summary

Two new surveys show that the public's support for science and technology remains strong even as federal legislators weigh cuts in the overall R&D budget. At the same time, the surveys—one nationwide and the other based on a sample of Californians—suggest that public understanding of basic scientific concepts is shaky at best.
