Polar stratospheric clouds are known to play an important role in ozone destruction over the north and south poles. One puzzle is how the clouds can continuously form throughout the winter. In her Perspective, Tolbert describes results by Koop and Carslaw (p. 1638) that reveal a new pathway for cloud regeneration.
