Summary

In a paper in this week's issue, Nudler et al. (p. 211) define the basis of the interaction of DNA with RNA polymerase, the enzyme that synthesizes messenger RNA from DNA. Landick and Roberts describe in their Perspective exactly where that takes us in our ability to describe the transcription machinery and provide a comprehensive figure.
