Summary

The interior of the Earth is geologists' final frontier, a domain with much uncharted territory. Geophysicists are now pondering the implications of a recent fundamental discovery about this realm: that the solid inner core spins faster than the rest of the planet. This finding may yield new insight into the development and strength of Earth's magnetic field.
