The startling claim that a meteorite, consisting of a chunk of Mars rock, bears evidence of ancient life could jump start the struggling U.S. space science program. Top congressional and administration officials have said more money for Mars exploration might be made available, and researchers are meeting this week to discuss speeding up plans for returning samples from the planet's surface.
