Going Dutch: Mainstreaming Alternatives

The Netherlands has taken the lead on alternatives to animal testing and has slashed the number of animals used by some 60% since 1978. Dutch law requires classes in animal welfare and consideration of alternative methods, which researchers say can be time-consuming but don't unduly impede research.
