Fly Sex Drive Traced to fru Gene

The fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster, whose males stalk the females and woo them with song before mating, can have sex lives as complicated as those of humans. Now researchers have identified a single gene, called fruitless (fru), as responsible for the development of male sexual behavior in the fly.
