Summary

The hydroxy radical (OH) plays a unique and central role in atmospheric chemistry. In his research commentary, Ehhalt discusses results published in the 2 January 1998 issue of Science by Wennberg et al. in which the authors derived the ozone production rate from measurements of OH concentrations and some other key atmospheric constituents.
