Summary

Electrons possess an intrinsic quantum mechanical property called "spin," and the ways that electrons scatter in a material may depend strongly on their spin state. In his Perspective, de Boeck discusses results presented in the same issue by Monsma et al ., showing that this spin-dependent scattering can be put to good use in a new class of transistor devices.
