Summary

Chemists wishing to control reaction rates have long resorted to trying to control the internal energy distribution in the reacting molecules. Holloway discusses why observations of highly enhanced reaction rates by Hou et al. pose a challenge for theoreticians trying to understand the interactions between highly excited molecules and solid surfaces.
