Magnetism in reduced dimensions is of interest to researchers for fundamental and applied reasons. Thiaville (page 1939) outlines recent advances in the detailed characterization of magnetic properties of different types of systems, such as nanoparticles, molecular magnets, and nanowires. Better understanding of the magnetic relaxation in these systems is gained from these studies and will be useful in the development of future magnetic recording media.
