Summary

MADISON, WISCONSIN-- Once rarely considered in evolution discussions, development was a hot topic for researchers here for the Evolution '99 meeting, held from 22 to 26 June. Among the issues discussed were why so many mammals have the same number of neck vertebrae and why so few organisms reproduce asexually even when they can.
