Summary

Human Genome Sciences Inc. of Rockville, Maryland, the company in the forefront of efforts to use modern genomics to develop new drugs (see main text), has three potential therapies based on those genes wending their way through clinical testing. Some attribute the success of company CEO William Haseltine to his practical bent as much as his scientific sense.
