Summary

Washington resembled a three-ring circus on 7 February as each agency put the best face on its 2001 budget request. Science gives highlights from the presentations by the National Science Foundation; the Departments of Energy, Defense, and Agriculture; the Environmental Protection Agency; the U.S. Geological Survey; the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration; and the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
