The Second Creation The Age of Biological Control by the Scientists Who Cloned Dolly. Ian Wilmut, Keith Campbell, and Colin Tudge. Headline, London, 2000. 366 pp. £18.99. ISBN 0-7472-2135-9.

The authors present a personal account of the research that led to Dolly the cloned sheep. They pay particular attention to what went on at the Roslin Institute (and in the minds of Wilmut and Campbell). Our reviewer believes that they have overlooked Dolly's significance as a metaphor for the power of scientists to create and control life.
