Summary

Talent hunters at major research centers are luring scientists by promising to build state-of-the-art animal facilities and reduce cage charges, which have become a substantial part of the cost of carrying out biomedical research. A change in policy at the National Institutes of Health is also expected to help institutions significantly lower their charges for keeping mice.
