Summary

Proteins have to perform their functions with precision at physiological conditions, where thermal fluctuations can be substantial. In his Perspective, Schulten highlights the study by Balabin and Onuchic, whose simulations have shown that proteins exploit thermal fluctuations to their advantage in a new and unexpected way.
