Summary

NEEDHAM, MASSACHUSETTS-- A small, undergraduate engineering college under construction here outside Boston aims to fix what's wrong with U.S. engineering education--and cost is no obstacle. Olin College of Engineering, the first freestanding undergraduate engineering college in the United States in nearly a century, hopes to shake up an educational system that many believe is not keeping up with today's fast-paced, high-tech economy. But some educators have questioned whether its approach is really all that new, or is capable of being scaled up if successful.
