Summary

Officials at Olin College of Engineering, due to open this fall, stress that they want to avoid the male-dominated "geek" culture that pervades many engineering programs; they are also committed to attracting more minorities into engineering. But skeptics note the implied high testosterone levels in some recruiting brochures and warn that an emphasis on Scholastic Aptitude Test scores and grade point averages will exclude many promising minority candidates.
