GIBRALTAR-- Was it a changing climate, competition with modern humans, or both? Experts who debated the topic at a high-level meeting here couldn't agree. Whereas some researchers argued at the meeting that there may have been no competition at all between the two groups, others saw the appearance of modern humans as the ultimate death knell for the Neandertals.
