Summary

John Marburger, confirmed only last week as presidential science adviser, has moved swiftly to make changes to his office that have upset some members of the research community. Marburger has eliminated two of the four senior positions within the Office of Science and Technology Policy that he heads. And one of the remaining posts is likely to be filled by a former congressional aide who lacks an advanced scientific degree or experience in industry.
