Increased calcium permeability of the NMDA receptors of postsynaptic neurons influences synaptic plasticity and, hence, learning and memory. In a Perspective, Ghosh explains new findings ( Takasu et al.) that reveal how the NMDA receptor-mediated postsynaptic calcium influx is regulated by activation of the EphB receptor and its signaling pathway.
