Designing bionic devices that enhance human capabilities (cybernetics) is raising a host of ethical questions. By the end of this month, University of Reading cybernetics professor Kevin Warwick plans to connect a computer chip to the nerves in his arm to see if a computer can read and communicate signals directly from his nervous system. Are computer-controlled humans next?
