Summary

Most cell types must reach a critical size before they are able to divide. In his Perspective, Sudbery discusses new work ( Jorgensen et al.) that identifies a number of proteins, including some that are important for ribosome biogenesis, that connect cell size and commitment to cell division in the budding yeast.
