Summary

The complete genome sequence of the tiger pufferfish Fugu ( Aparicio et al. ) should enable valuable comparisons to be made with the human genome. In a Perspective, Hedges and Kumar discuss how the Fugu genome sheds light on the genetics of human disease and on the evolutionary relationships of vertebrates.
