Summary

Two Senate committees have approved a bill supporting a 5-year doubling of the National Science Foundation's (NSF's) budget. But the legislation also contains some bitter pills--involving science and math education, major research equipment, and NSF's relation with its oversight board--that NSF hopes to avoid swallowing.
