Summary

PARIS-- Last week the French government unveiled competing versions of its civil R&D budget for 2003. According to the Finance Ministry, the budget would shrink by 0.8%, whereas the Research Ministry has it rising by 1.4%. Researchers are up in arms over the bizarre budgetary duet.
