Summary

After millions of years of coexistence, the lives of humans and mosquitoes have become intricately intertwined. Human behavior and modification of the environment have played an extraordinarily complex role in the evolution of the mosquito--and of the many diseases that mosquitoes can transmit to humans. The mosquito's ability to exploit almost any type of water, natural or humanmade, is testimony to its evolutionary ingenuity.
