From Ecuador to Nepal, geoscientist Brian Tucker leads a hands-on crusade to help city dwellers survive earthquakes. He heads GeoHazards International, a nonprofit group that helps the developing world brace for earthquakes. And there is plenty of risk: Over 85% of the world's quake-prone cities are in developing countries, often overlooked by researchers.
