Summary

A physicist has figured out a way to propel a spacecraft without expelling anything in the opposite direction. The discovery, published online this week by Science (www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/abstract/1081406), won't lead to a practical propulsion system, but gravitational physicists are nonetheless excited about the notion of swimming in spacetime.
