Summary

Many metabolic reactions involve the enzyme-catalyzed transfer of phospho groups, but the intimate detail of such transfers and how they are catalyzed have been unclear. Knowles discusses new, direct, structural information ( Lahiri et al.) that vividly suggests that these reactions proceed by a partly associative in-line mechanism.
