Summary

On 5 May a mule named Idaho Gem was born after a normal 346-day gestation in the womb of a mare, researchers report online in Science this week (www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/abstract/1086743). He's the first member of the horse family as well as the first sterile animal to be cloned.
