Summary

The developing visual system of animals depends on visual inputs to establish synaptic connections between neurons of the retina and later stages of the visual pathway. In their Perspective, Chiu and Weliky explain new findings revealing that synaptic connections in the developing visual system can be both established and reversed by visual inputs ( Zhou et al.).
