One of Russia's most daunting decommissioning jobs is the Lepse, a Cold War service vessel for nuclear-powered icebreakers that is stuffed with nuclear waste and spent fuel assemblies. Some of the assemblies are damaged, which makes their removal an unprecedented challenge.
