When two people watch the same movie, are their brains activated in the same way? This question is addressed in a new study ( Hasson et al.) that seeks to use the functional magnetic resonance imaging signals from one person's brain as that person watches a movie, to predict the signals in another individual's brain when that person watches the same movie segment. In an accompanying Perspective, Pessoa discusses the results and ponders whether humans experience movies in the same manner.
