Summary

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS-- Chemists, physicists, and materials scientists met here from 29 November through 3 December to talk about progress on everything from improved solar cells to engineering proteins. Snapshots from the meeting include a key step on the road to a room-temperature semiconductor terahertz laser, a device that could instantly identify DNA, and a new approach to water filtration.
