Summary

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA-- From 21 to 24 March, more than 6500 gathered to ponder flowing solids, splashless droplets, and living crystals. The striking hexagonal pattern in a fly's compound eye forms in the same way that a crystal grows, say physicists who have modeled the chemical interactions driving the process.
