Summary

This month, National Science Foundation Director Arden Bement laid the groundwork for paleoceanographer Margaret Leinen to remain as head of the geosciences directorate as a career employee, reversing NSF's usual policy of hiring top research administrators on loan from their universities for short-term appointments.
