DURHAM, NORTH CAROLINA-- At the Environmental Genomics, Imprinting, and Disease Susceptibility conference, held here from 2 to 4 November, an epigeneticist presented evidence from mice that methylation of DNA--a chemical modification that can shut down genes--can be key to folic acid's effects on the developing fetus.
