Summary

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA--Almost 12,000 earth and planetary scientists (a new record) of every stripe met here 5 to 9 December to discuss everything from ancient muck on Mars to the inner workings of the San Andreas fault. Snapshots from the meeting include "earthquake weather" and a not-so-hot estimate of global warming. (read more.)
