Summary

ORLANDO, FLORIDA-- A mycologist has used a video camera that records 100,000 frames per second to figure out the pivotal role water plays in the moments leading up to a fungal spore's rapid takeoff. The work was reported at the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology meeting, held here from 4 to 8 January. (Read more.)
